Q. How do I remove air bubbles
after installation?
A.
Once you apply your new sticker(s), you might find that you
have small air bubbles between the sticker and the vehicle
surface. Most smaller bubbles will disappear within a few
weeks, larger bubbles can be removed by using a pin (not a
razor blade). Simply prick a pin hole at the edge of the bubble,
then work the air out with your finger. Note that using your
naked finger can stretch the vinyl, we use a moist cotton
glove but a cloth or simply wetting the surface will allow
your finger to glide over the surface of the vinyl.
Q. Can I install on a freshly painted surface?
A. We
highly recommend that you do not apply stickers or graphics
to paintwork that is less that 30 days old. Solvents in the
paint need time to evapourate and if a vinyl sticker or graphic
is applied before the paintwork cures, the solvents will not
evapourate properly causing the vinyl adhesive to fail and
also the paintwork to not look as it was intended.
Q. Can I wash or wax my car after installing
decals?
A.
Yes. We recommend allowing 24-48 hours after applying your
vinyl stickers/graphics before washing your vehicle. This
gives the vinyl adhesives time to bond, after this period
you will be able to wash over you stickers and graphics just
like you would normal paintwork. We recommend you avoid waxing
the vinyl as many chemicals may interact in harmful ways.
When polishing and waxing your paintwork, try to avoid edges
of the vinyl stickers and graphics as you can force polish
or wax under the sticker causing it to peel. The best way
of marinating your stickers is to dab with a water and mild
soap soaked sponge.
Q. How can I keep my new decal stickers
and graphics looking awesome?
A. Keeping
your stickers and graphics looking awesome is simple. Wash
them when you wash your car avoiding any harsh chemicals or
solvents and commercial car washes. Dab your stickers with
a water and mild soap soaked sponge. Avoid waxing or polishing
around edges. For vinyl graphics that cover large areas eg.
window banners and GT Racing Stripes. we use vinyl or furniture
polish; but again keep away from edges as they can dissolve
the adhesives.
Bladerunner Graphics advises customers to avoid the following:
- High-pressure car washes, they can peel your graphics
right off your car.
- Watch out for bird droppings because they can stain the
vinyl.
- If you use RainX on your windscreen, use a alcohol or
a citrus cleaner with limonene as the active ingredient
before application.
- If you have recently gone through a car wash and selected
the "wax" treatment this could hamper you graphic
adhesion. Clean using an alcohol cleaner before application.
Another tip is to park you vehicle in the shade when possible.
Harsh exposure to sunlight will damage almost any material
including your vinyl stickers and graphics.
